Reaching Your Goals: A Simple Guide
In this article we want to highlight the importance of setting realistic goals and reaching your targets. Remember: Every step in the process is a step towards improved self-esteem, positive mental activity and a feeling of success that holistically permeates throughout your life.
So, where do we start?
Usually, goal setting becomes increasingly more important when we start feeling like there's a lack of progress in our lives. This can relate to work, family life, your physical fitness - almost any area of your life where an opportunity of self-improvement is identified.
Rather than complain and verbally espouse the downside of your situation, instead, try to make a change in that area that leads to your ideal outcome. In identifying the destination that you want to reach, list out the incremental steps that it takes to make that happen.
Write the list down on paper. Place it somewhere you can see it every day.
Perhaps that place is your bathroom mirror - a place you go to every single day. That way, when you are brushing your teeth, you can consciously or unconsciously connect with the list and it will act as a daily reminder of what it takes to reach your goals. Within a month, you will be surprised to realize just how much progress you make.
For many of us, managing your weight is a daily struggle, right?
A list for those who want to regulate their weight might include the incremental steps of;
- (1) Consume less calories
- (2) Eat protein in every meal
- (3) Snack on fruit
- (4) Say NO to junk food
- (5) Eat less salt
- (6) Drink less alcohol
- (7) Exercise every weekday
With the ultimate goal being: Lose two inches off my waist.
Notice how the ultimate goal is not the focus of your attention but is the goal of your intention? It is the incremental steps that will make it happen.
Eating more protein.
This is an incremental step for anyone who is building muscle (protein = energy for muscle development) and also for those who want to lose weight (protein = feeling "fuller" for longer and being less hungry).
It is often difficult to find new ways to consume protein, especially at breakfast time when our daily lives have us in a rush to get to the office. But there has been a major breakthrough in Australia with the development of new "Superfoods" developed by the CSIRO which are now being packaged into cereals and one brand includes added protein...
